I have been canoe tripping ever since I first attended Illahee camp in Cobourg at the age of eight. The first trip I took was on the Otonabee river to Rice lake. We were a troop of 12 kids in a Peterborough freighter canoe with two counsellors.
Since then I have tripped over many a summer on scores of lakes and rivers in Canada. In 2007 I completed a three week trip on the Nahanni River in the Northwest Territories (NWT). In 2010 I paddled on the Elk and Thelon rivers in the NWT.
